- Philippa Herbert’s guide to Chelsea -
-February-2026-

11 Cadogan Gardens – a Relais & Châteaux hotel – occupies a characterful corner of Chelsea, just a stone’s throw from our favourite Pavilion Road in the heart of the neighbourhood. The architecture provided the inspiration for our new campaign.

Our Chelsea Highlights

Pavilion Road is a regular starting point for us, home to Provenance Village Butcher and London Cheesemongers, perfect for stocking up if staying in one of the self-catering apartments at 11 Cadogan Gardens and its neighbouring sister property, The Chelsea Townhouse. Moyses Stevens Flowers is our go-to florist in the area, and the Aussie-inspired menu at Granger & Co on Pavilion Road is a reliable favourite.

Foodie Favourites that we return to time and again:

At Sloane, a chic dining room with a refined French touch

Martino’s, Sloane Square’s newest hotspot

Colbert on Sloane Square, ideal for a classic Chelsea breakfast

The Pie Man on Chelsea Green’s Cale Street, for delicious pies and a beautiful curated deli pantry

Amar Café also on Cale Street for the best coffee

Stanley’s, for drinks and dinner outside all year-round under the heated terrace

Ixchel, for a fun Mexican feast

La Famiglia, a Chelsea stalwart and our favourite for glorious birthdays and celebrations over pasta

Manicomio on Duke of York Square, perfect for a glass of rosé over lunch on a summer’s day

Hans’ Bar & Grill at 11 Cadogan Gardens has a lovely relaxed feel

Culture and Greenery

For moments of peace and quiet in nature, Chelsea Physic Garden, is one of London’s oldest botanical gardens. The Saatchi Gallery always has exciting exhibitions, and on Saturdays the square opposite hosts a great fine food market. We are also looking forward to the next Chelsea Arts Festival in September this year, which had an incredible programme in 2025, and of course, Chelsea Flower Show in May is an annual highlight.

For Shopping

Rococo on the King’s Road make truly heavenly chocolates

John Sandoe is the most gorgeous independent bookshop

We can’t resist popping into Veronica Beard, Me+Em, and Rixo to browse clothes

Cadogan Gardens and the surrounding streets were built by Lord Chelsea in the late 19th century, a time when Chelsea was still seen as the bohemian quarter of London. The four townhouses that make up 11 Cadogan Gardens became popular as a home-from-home for travelling Victorian aristocrats, politicians and bon viveurs. To this day, the hotel collects a colourful array of visitors from Chelsea locals to international guests.

In the hotel’s famously cosy library, we captured our model at cocktail hour. Layering pieces with different stones and textures creates an effortless, relaxed glamour. The same combination of jewels would pair as easily with denim by day, as it does with a silk slip.

The Chelsea Townhouse has exclusive access to the private gardens where we were able to shoot. Lushly green and with towering mulberry trees, it is a peaceful spot. The golden tones of the jewellery work well alongside the WNU trench and autumnal backdrop of the gardens. Offset against the navy wool and cashmere of the JOSEPH coat is also very striking.

There is nothing we love more than when brides choose to wear Philippa Herbert on their wedding day.

A tailored white trouser suit from our great friends at Suzannah London offered a modern counterpoint to a wedding dress.
