Philippa Herbert Ltd was founded in 2007. We wished to create a business that would reflect our artistic backgrounds, as we are both graduates of the Courtauld Institute of Art. However as old friends and sisters in law it was also crucial that it would work around our growing families.
The kitchen table company we started (whilst literally bouncing our children on our knees) has evolved from casting babies’ hands and feet and hand engraving fingerprints onto charms, to creating bespoke client pieces and designing our own signature line of jewellery.
Our shared love of jewellery has meant that over the last 12 years we have worked hard to learn all aspects of the jewellery trade first hand as well as taking courses at establishments such as Central St Martins, in gemology, technical jewellery design and jewellery rendering. It has always been very important to us to work with the best British jewellers, craftsmen and suppliers, we know they produce only quality workmanship and they know our exacting standards (Where applicable our products bear British hallmarks to certify the precious metal used). All our gems are ethically sourced, and we work in solid gold or silver to ensure the longevity and quality of our designs. We have an in-house Goldsmith who works closely with our small team and a second workshop in the heart of Hatton Garden.
We absolutely love what we do and feel very privileged to meet such lovely families and their gorgeous babies and children. We both feel strongly that jewellery must be filled with meaning and love and we want to create pieces that are treasured and passed down through generations. We try to offer the very best, bespoke service we possibly can. Spending time with our clients, often in their homes, talking to them about what they want in and from a piece of jewellery means that we’re able to create something unique to them which will endure and bring them joy for years to come.
